The game is in alpha iirc, but it's fun to just chill in there and fly around. Plus you can make some pretty cool looking dragons with how customizable they are

I don’t think I’ve ever played wolf quest actually (edited)

It started as a free to play by the international wolf center and now it's a more developed game with a story about the typical life of a wolf (starting at 2yrs old)

You can play as basically anything in Second Life, the avatars are all user-created. It's kinda like...proto-VRChat, with even fewer limitations. :>

I've been meaning to host an OtherCon panel about how to get started using it, since I think it could be a fantastic spiritual tool and hangout for kinfolk. But things keep getting in the way. ^^;

It has an insanely high barrier to entry thanks to how old and weird a lot of its controls can be, but I sincerely believe it's worth learning and getting into. Being able to tweak and modify my SL av has helped me figure out a lot about my dragonself and other kintypes!

so what's it cost?

The game itself is free, but avatars and parts do need to be bought with in-game currency that's purchased with real world currency. The exchange rate varies, since the game does have its own weird sort of economy, but even the most detailed of feral avatars don't tend to get over $20-$30, cheaper than most VRC models as far as I'm aware. :>

well, i think hearing a panel-length explanation first might be a pretty good idea actually

Hahah yeah probably! I've been advocating for the company behind the game to make a more modern entry tutorial for...a while now. :'> But it's slow going. I'll either record a video or do a panel at the next con, whatever's coming up. :>
