Welcome all! Feel free to use any of the channels here to talk about whatever! There is a slowmode on all of the channels so the chats don't move too quickly!
I think after a bit once everyone trickles in we might need it but a moving chat is great to start the event with. like chatter in a con hall i guess :)
If you don't mind it being a second draft (or as I call them: slightly-less-rough drafts) I have a finished manuscript you're welcome to read. Just leme know and I can send it to you(edited)
We've played it on basically everything it's been released on, and PC is good. We have a soft spot for the PS2 version since that's what we grew up with.
I actually have a switch so I'll try that, thanks for letting me know! I also have a PS5 though so maybe I'll use that since it's more true to the format (so to speak).
We were around the same age
Allot of it flew over our head but we were in it for the wolf goddess
Bc it It gave us what I now know of as kinfeels(I still don't have that sorted out...)

I grew up with the Wii version so I like that alot but I don't recommend it unless you REALLY like the wii (edited)
Okami is a great game. Itโs on ps4 so you donโt need motion controls. I donโt know if itโs on other systems aside from the wii and original PS2
Oooohhh Okami has been on my to-play list for ages. I wanted to play it back when it first came out for the PS2 but it had just enough mysticism and magic in it that my mom wigged out and banned it when I asked to buy it. It's out for PC now?
10:32 pm
Ooohhh and it's on Steam...
10:33 pm
Damn I hadn't realized how long ago that was. I was 13 when it first came out...
I do remember my best friend at the time had a copy for her Wii and I watched her play it. Loved the art style.
Not me waking up super early so I can be here when the opening ceremony starts lmao
11:30 am
I have been given a last minute volunteer thing annoyingly enough but i really wanted to help so i'll still be going. it just means I might not be home when everything juuust starts but I have Data and discord on my phone so I will be listening in at least while I get home lol
I'm helping stuff some envelopes for the charity group that hosts the art group I go to for free every week. they're getting ready for the holidays early since it's the time of the year where they get the most donations heheh
12:14 pm
I don't help them often but i did promise to this month

If I'm not totally off with time conversion from CST to CEST, it should be in 1.5 hrs! Either this, or the concept of time is more off to this dragon here then I imagined it to be.
Yeah, time zones especially, I just couldnโt stay awake too long past midnight to join the first few panels (12h time difference, but thatโs just because Iโm on the other side of the globe from the US) x_x
But I do plan on joining the other panels when possible!
Doppelโโฉ๏ธ
Reply to: No worries! Online conventions and time zones and life does that!
Weโve had quite a few conversations during the summit! Now that itโs actually the weekend though the channels might see more activity than they already have!
Well, I actually tried to add all those little yellow dragon blob emojis to the server, though I wasnโt able to since the files I found werenโt compatible with discord for some reasonโฆ.
WOF panel? Why do you call it... omg I just see this now. This is my panel, but the title is not "wings of fire". It's "wings and fire". And it doesn't have anything to do with WOF.
OMG I hope people don't expect me to do a WOF panel now. I don't know a thing about it

Ooooh, I'd be down! I haven't organized anything like that before either, so I'm not sure how that'd work. I know there's definitely a way to do it though
Xylanth
it says "Wings of fire" in the schedule "Wings and fire" makes more sense, though, I was wondering why a WOF panel would be 18+
Specifically, dragon POV books. Books that merely contain dragons aren't that rare, but books from a dragon's POV are special. I particularly liked Axtara: Banking and Finance.
Omg yes Age of Fire is my favorite too! Have you read the sequel series "Dragoneer Academy"? It's still being written, and it's not a dragon POV story anymore, but it tells basically the events that were laid in motion in the last three books of AoF

Dragon Champion was amazing, Dragon Avenger was okay, Dragon Outcast was bad... I have the fourth book just in case it gets better, but I've heard it doesn't.
What times are open still? Itโll be a pretty impromptu panel thatโll probably consist of me talking about my favorite books and then just open discussion, pff
hhhhhhh I wish I wasn't so busy this weekend. I missed Amber's panel and I was really looking forward to it... next year I am so going to block the weekend of the summit out and just let everyone know I'll be in my room doing nerd things...
Zana
Honestly I could probably whip something up for tomorrow if there was interest
i would love this! i have a running list of dragon books and im always looking for more! its helped me so much to get put into a draconic headspace and just decompress from the human world
9:17 pm
are the panels being recorded? if so will there be link to where they can be watched after the summit? ive missed all of them actually :// i lost my headphones and ive been busy with work

i'm certainly interested in the one about dreams, but my dreams haven't exactly been comfortable lately, so i'd prefer to skip that one and catch up on it later on my own terms
So it will be a mix of both. My goal is to present what dream interpretation is about and how you can use it for your own. I want to give something to everyone's claws that they can use in everdays (or nights) life
9:21 pm
So it will be interactive ^..^

After the dream discussion panel here in about 40 minutes, the rest of the evening is open, as well as tomorrow morning and afternoon!
Dream analysis is a topic very dear to me, as it is deeply connected to my draconity as well as it is a great tool for me in my psychological work(edited)
I've noticed my dreams tend to be the least coherent when my brain is processing a ton of new information.
Like recently: I've been training to become a school bus driver. Lots of new things coming in every day. And you would think I'd dream about maintenance and driving of a bus. But no. The one I remember the most vividly was that I somehow accidentally "stole" Boba Fett's helmet and he was after me to get it back...
i have very clearly trauma related dreams most of the time nowadays :( its one of the things that changed a lot as ive gotten older. i used to have dreams that were fantastical and clearly about my special interests at the time and brought me a lot of joy but in the last few years they have mostly been stressful :/
Dreams are one of the most purest ways of connecting with our selfs. The Panel itself is therefor not really called "Dream analysis" , but I rather like to name it "the art of understanding dream language"
i wanted to mention one of my favorite sites on the internet. its calles world dream bank and the author has been collecting his dreams and others for over 20 years now. reading his dreams have been really enlightening to me as a lot of them are about non human experiences.
I am natural lucid dreamer, and have kept my dream journal going, nearly every day. But I'm very lacking in any sort of dream interpretation/analysis skill. This is the one panel that I'm very excited about
I still remember, when I had my first lucid dream and I was aware I was dreaming, I tried to summon the largest bowl of Icecream you could imagine. After waking up I though lol wtf
It was a very steady process for me to controll the dream environment, it is not that easy (at least for me it wasn't). Walking through doors? No go at first. Through the ground? No chance. Flying however was possible from the start
these are personal tip and may or may not work for everyone
try to keep recognizing a few things that are constant in the waking world. The written text, the ticking clock (preferably analogue), and get used to do reality check via small thing like pen dropping, egg standing. Once you are inside a dream, try to check your surroundings for sign out of place. This heavily depends from person to person, as it is different for everyone. While some may be able to read text within a dream, some cannot. As an example. The moment you notice the discrepancy, your brain would realize you are not in the waking world. From here, it is classified as Lucid Dreaming. While some would say gaining a level of control is lucid dreaming, but it is not a requirement for one to be considered aware/lucid.
when waking up, donโt immediately jump start your consciousness. Try to ease yourself into waking to retain as much as the dream memories into your conscious memories
utilize dream journal, keep a habit and train your brain to remember dreams
try with certain video that helps promote certain state of sleep. I once tried a thing for astral projection, accidentally fell asleep, and had a very intense lucid dreaming about astral projection
Some of it also is just kinda telling yourself youโre gonna try and lucid dream as youโre going to bed(edited)

9:56 pm
Reminds you do to it and if you can remember during the night makes it more likely
9:56 pm
Or willing yourself to have a specific dream
9:57 pm
I used to do it very often, but ended up kinda trying to distance myself from dreaming because it was stressful from nightmares/sleep paralysis and was consuming my waking life a little bit
1
9:58 pm
Certain medications can also increase dreaming and thus lucid dreams
1
9:58 pm
Lamictal and Seroquel both had major effects for me
9:59 pm
โฆto be clear though, donโt try and go on psychiatric meds to increase dreams xp
yeah practicing lucid dreaming can be tricky. my brain knows the tricks to become lucid, but in my dreams it tries so hard to convince me i'm not dreaming even when i check lol
Itโs funny how much is it is intention and mindset though, I stopped trying to remember and record my dreams as religiously, and itโs caused that to decrease - but it has the upside of less nightmares, paralysis, and a lot less waking up during the night after dreams which has been nice
10:00 pm
Since Iโd kinda trained myself to wake up after each dream in order to write it down
10:01 pm
Soโฆ there are ups and downs to going intensely into dream work, Iโd say, though itโs something you can always stop or take a step back on
10:01 pm
Mostly I just record my dreams casually, usually record two a night even if I have more, since I donโt try that hard to remember them
10:02 pm
But if I really will myself I can still have lucid dreams - I had a dream a few nights ago that got interrupted, and I was really annoyed and managed to go back to sleep to finish it
10:03 pm
(The go back to sleep method dies work well, but itโs not consistent - lucid dreaming isnโt in general)

Flying is very interesting - my limbs often donโt match quite right because 4 to 6, but sometimes Iโve gotten all 6 in control and felt it and that just feels really euphoric
The dream analysis panel was interesting but I had to leave because I had been up for a really long time and I was falling asleep during the presentation xD
I've been trying to fight it off this whole time but I can't anymore so it's off to bed at 8:30pm for me
Presumably the 18+ ones would be put behind an age barrier; it's just the topics being discussed that are, or occasionally brush up against, 18+ material, they don't have any, like, pornographic images, or anything(edited)
Oops, the link I mentioned was posted in the panelists-only channel, so I think I shouldn't share it here. Let's give the staff some time to prepare the recordings.
so when we were talking about shrimp in the food panel, I'm.. just thinking of the dragon from Sky: Children of the Light
they are called krill, they look like shrimp dragon
so all I can think of is. dragon eating shrimp dragon
Just wanted to express that I'm really, really enjoying this con! Together, we've really recreated that "Othercon-feeling" even if we are much less attendees. Tbh I was totally unsure if it would work out this way, but boy it did. It's been a fantastic weekend! Although it's not over just yet, thanks so much to the staff for making this possible, and for everybody attending who filled it with life! You're brilliant!
I've been impressed with the breadth of topics the panels have covered
10:34 pm
I feel like we've all gotten really creative in a way that hasn't been necessarily expressed quite as much at Othercon, perhaps because it's a smaller venue here
I myself donโt believe it can be compared like that, between the summit and othercon. As that is for a wider audience and deals with different topic than here that focuses on draconity. There are overlap in theme, but slight differences in the consideration of topics, the struggles, and well, tolerance for topics.

Is falling asleep, won't be at the last panel, sorry everyone qwq
not to mention that it feels like a lot of people are scared of getting up in front of a MUCH larger audience, so it takes a certain type of person to present at othercon.
plus, when it comes to othercon we sort of have to have a larger focus to feel inclusive.
(just from my observation as a regular presenter at OC)
I was actually nervous at first, since this was my first time speaking to others through voice so much and hosting an event like this. Though I still did enjoy everything!
11:16 pm
This server will be placed into read only mode Tuesday late at night, so we still have Halloween to chat here and hang out!
11:16 pm
Iโm definitely tired after this weekend, though itโs a good kind of tired really!
I hope Iโll be more free during the spring summitโI (almost) didnโt get to attend any of the panels this time because I was away and constantly busy this weekend.
I couldnโt attend most of the panels because of the 12h time zone difference but the ones I did check was fun!
Great con, would wreck my sleep schedule again
12:52 am
Looking forward to the recordings too!

I just wanna say I loved this so much! I feel very inspired by all this and haven't been in such a draconic shift in a while
Multiple of us in the collective , even. Not just me.
It's gotten us thinking about doing a panel one day too.
Very much the same here!
I spent the whole time building up to the Summit excited, but brain empty for ideas for stuff I might wanna do for it. Now I have some ideas and I have all y'all to thank for it, between the discourses here and the excellent panels
If I can ever get over my bad habit of jumping out of front when I get nervous, I might want to do a panel about my experiences as a shapeshifter learning to appreciate dragons after never having given them much more than a passing thought before, to the point of creating a dragon form for myself.
I have to say I feel fantastic this morning! It's maybe best described as "feeling closer to myself".. which is endlessly comforting, joyful, euphoric. It's also incredibly comforting to realize that this feeling can be repeatedly invoked through events like this. It feels just like when I joined the community. It seems interacting with y'all at a place where we all can be ourselves has enabled this.
I'm sad the Summit is almost over but that's only because it was so great! I'm so glad we all could come together and all you awesome folks brought this place to life!
I had fun. My only regret: I didn't snare a new reader this weekend.
1:11 am
I did however find my way to several new servers. I learned a ton about what the otherkin community has become in the years since I was last really involved.
Iโm just happy everyone had a good time! Thatโs what this event is about really
1:12 am
I was definitely a bit disorganized with planning and the execution of my discussion panels, though I hope to change that next summit so itโs an even better experience. Thank you all for being patient with my being
i'm very sleepy tonight so going to get a word in before the server is read only! thanks y'all for a great summit and all the effort put into making it happen ^^ i had a lot of fun
