It's in alpha, but the development team has a discord and are continuously improving the game. rn it's a dragon character creator and open-world explore deal. Quests and fighting mechanics are future plans. Here's some screenshots we took!

The game does look gorgeous, but I will offer a counterpoint, if anyone is on the fence about this game, I will warn that right now there is not much to do. But if you enjoy character creation and RP, it might be a wonderful investment.

I really need to find some folks to play with tbh The RP would be a really strong draw ngl

I've considered getting it off and on. The reviews sort of deter me from it, but then again, I think there is enough available in the game that, when discounts come about, it will be worth it

I really hope they keep developing the game. It doesn't look like there's enough there to hold my attention yet. I'm not really big on RP, I'm not that much of a charming extrovert.

The gryphon-like creature is what intrigues me the most

I bought it just to get myself off the fence. I don't regret it, but it definitely is thin on content. It sure does give some massive species euphoria, though. (edited)

We really enjoy the game, but we just like using it as a chill flight game. How much we play waxes and wanes, depending on if new content was added. (edited)

now that I’d be interested in. It’s been sitting in my library collecting digital dust since I don’t feel comfortable playing by myself, not to mention they still haven’t given a furred mane option to even the eastern dragon model. Scale sometimes give me dysphoria and all

I thought there were fluff options for the eastern models? Or maybe it's just general fur but no furred mane. I remember being unsure which I preferred when I used it to help me solidify my dragon form when I was developing it.

I might go deposit some cash to try it out, but I'm still rather on the fence. At least I could return it if I don't end up enjoying it

If you're up for an action-based Dragon game, I highly recommend Fire and Steel. It's on sale for less than $1 right now and the three hours I had with it to beat the whole game was fun as heck. It's surprisingly challenging on Normal Mode and the enemies and levels are satisfying to beat.

lineage dragons are fun stuff, and you could probably try and see if anyone wants to pick her up on the original thread on the bottom, but outside of that, not really. Especially if it’s such a high number already plus, that messy combo is not most people’s cup of tea. Or maybe a exalt rescue

yeah i personally think they're rather ugly you say it's a high number, so which gens would not be considered high?

1-3 gen, 4,5 might be desirable, but after that it had to really be someone’s interest for them to want the dragon

i don't really like engaging in onsite communication so i guess if none of my friends or no one from here claims them by tomorrow or so i'll just exalt

eh fair, I think that one’s going to be exalted. I find few people like that splashy of color. I actually would have liked the dragon if there was even more colors in the prim and secondary, but too muted for me

I really need to find more games with a basic premise of just "exploring some big place, potentially in a group" I love Etrian Odyssey and Phantasy Star Online 1 for that reason, I've beaten every game in the former series outside of the DS games and admittedly need to get back to the latter because when I stopped playing I'd just gotten to the final area of Episode 1

If you like exploration games I’d highly recommend Outer Wilds. It’s a beautiful game where you explore a solar system and uncover a mystery as part of a fantastic story. Go in as blind as possible

I used to play Flight Rising but it was simultaneously too slow for my tastes, and a monstrous time-suck, so I've kinda abandoned it.

it is definitely euphoric, just be mindful of motion sickness and stuff cause it happens very easily with this game

Oh, that's good to know. I don't generally get motion sick, but I've never tried true VR before so I don't know for sure how it'll affect me. I've just gone on those virtual rides where you sit in a chair that swings around like crazy and wear 3D glasses and stare at a big ol' screen

it's not "first person" in that sense, but you can position yourself physically so you're aligned with the model in whichever way you prefer

Oddly enough, about 45% of the time when I try to imagine myself flying as a dragon my perspective winds up shifting to a dragon-rider-esque POV. So this would probably still work for me lol

you do need a normal controller to steer, you don't do it with body movements or anything (though you can do them simply for added immersion)

Is it VR-only or can you play it on a screen, too?

actually i think you can boot it in desktop mode, and it also shows a game view on the screen when you're playing in vr (my roommate commented on it lol)

I've been thinking about gaming today. I had a rude dream last night that featured a game, but nevermind that... I think I don't have the personality for most games anymore. Wars in strategy games depress me. The many tragedies that form game plots affect me morosely. I don't play many games anymore.

I've almost always played to maximize happiness in games with happiness scores, but now I grieve when bad stuff happens in-game. I've gotten too sad and fragile.

There aren't a lot of dragon life sims. It's a sparse market. I'm convinced that the awesomeness of life as a dragon would totally sell if developers would take a chance on it.

There is a game called Dragon Sim available for mobile, I believe it's on the Google Play Store as well as the Apple App Store, but it is somewhat sparse on content. I still enjoy it, it's a solid flying sim at the very least lol

it's my comfort game and the soundtrack helps me calm down from panic attacks

Yeeessss the soundtrack is so good

Text has a tremendous evocative power. Attempts to render the dragon as in most simulators limit the depth and detail to which they can take their story. Golden Treasure gets this right. (edited)

What's the objective in Abzu? What are you playing for in the game?

Abzu is similar to Journey in that you are exploring and slowly moving through the environment. There are murals and objects here and there that give you vague lore input. Ultimately the "goal" is to restore nature and remove mechanization that has been left behind by an unknown civilization. That's about all I can say without spoiling too much

Maybe I should try it. I play gentler and more narrative games nowadays... I don't know what happened to me, but it doesn't feel good.

I still need to finish Abzu, just started it. I'm a big fan of ThatGameCompany's style of games
