I weigh about 20 pounds more than my lowest adult weight... and I love sweets. I can't live without sweets.

I need to get back on my diet. Went off it to celebrate the grandparents' 42nd anniversary and now I'm having a really hard time going back to eating the way that works best for me.

My diet plan is that I eat sweets on the weekend and cheese on the weekdays.

hey, if i may try to give some advice? i've been trying to gain weight for the past few years too and have recently finally seen some progress i don't like cheese either, except melted cheese like for example on pizza - i swear it tastes and feels different! i'm also a vegetarian so meat products are out of the question. (accidentally hit send lol) (edited)

anyway, something that has really helped me is meal drinks. so, one 500ml bottle is supposed to give you the nutrients of one meal, but i haven't been replacing my meals but rather using it as a supplement for those extra calories. and drinking those calories can be much easier than eating them, especially when you've already got zero appetite

actually i've finally cracked 50kg and yes that is a big deal for me

"circumstances" meeep that doesn't sound good, Keks. Most I've ever weighed is 126-128#. I just have too much of a draconian metabolism, but I guess it's good to be a good flying weight? In my 20s, I could eat 4-5 plates of food at the buffet and never gain; these days, I just don't eat a whole lot, thusly... it may be why the energy isn't there and why I get stove up and hurt when doing a lot of activity

i more or less accidentally trained myself to ignore hunger while in school - the woman who dragged me into this world was very stingy when it came to allowance, so i'd pocket the lunch money she gave me and lied about using it on food

should have at least let you have a sandwich from home or something. I'm sorry your mom was like that Keks offers wingedy hug. Guess some of this explains it. I was always extra small growing up... one of the smallest people in school, which led to all manner of peer criticism and crap. We didn't have much money, so my thing is I would try not to burden dad a whole lot, so didn't try to get lots of food, although really didn't need a whole lot either being smaller. Was only 5ft tall when I got my license and 5'2 when I graduated... thankfully I still grew some after that (although heck of a ways from a natural 10ft eh?)

well i talked to my therapist about it yesterday, and she says it's good that i'm well aware of the issue and that i've been working on it

yes, the first step to making your life better is realizing where the problems are. You can't heal until you diagnose the trouble areas. A lot of our troubles come from our own minds or world view, and physically manifest themselves through our habits and such. I gather perhaps you're still fairly young? I pray you can continue on, and in a good way, and not let a painful past define who you are, because once you are an independent being away from the home you grew up, you get the option to define who you are and what you will stand for in life. I'd say please keep that in mind that environment is but environment, how you meander through it is all up to you

exactly half my age. Glad you found a way to get some help. I probably could've used that when younger but actual doc is super expensive. Spent like a decade figuring out how to fix myself, so hope you come to terms much quicker. Us scales can stick together though

We have one mediocre pho place in town, hence the need to make my own. I feel your pain ><

There's a pho place not too far from me, though it is still like 15 miles. My step-sister and her husband (step-brother-in-law?) love going there and so in pre-pandemic times I got invited to go to lunch with them and my mom and step-dad a lot.

Worth the drive!

here in Kansas City we don't have a huge asian population so we dont have chains like Jollibee or Pho Hoa like California does but we have a cool restaurant called Tous Le Jours which is a French-Korean bakery and their melon bread is amazing

we do have one chain called Hawaiian Bros in my city and it is cool to see the cultural influences that the Japanese has on Hawaii since their rice and teriyaki bowls are obviously very Japanese inspired and the spam sushi thing (i cannot remember the name for the life of me) is actually a result of two cultures coming together

Speaking of food from other ethnicities, if any of y'all ever come to Oregon you simply must visit some Mexican restaurants. The state is a popular settling destination for a lot of Mexicans, and a lot of them start up a restaurant. My absolute favorite place closed down due to covid, but the next best place is a little tiny place called El Chilito. Enormous portions, like you could probably feed three people from this, and remarkably low prices even in this economy.

we have this restaurant/ice cream parlour called Paleteria El Chavo which is really good, its a small restaurant but its soooooo good

There's a place near me that's similar. It's called The Burger Hut and their whole aesthetic is 1950s diner style everything. Food is fantastic, too. Amusingly, the area seems like a really rough neighborhood but it's actually one of the greatest diversity success stories I've ever seen and everyone is super wholesome.

I'm afraid I haven't lived there in several years now. and I've since immigrated to Canada lol. I do remember one of my favourite places was Oklahoma Joe's for barbeque. I think they rebranded to be just "Joe's" or something around the time I left

Oh that's cool! Truth be told I absolutely despise the new look McDonald's seems to be pushing on all their locations. I miss the golden arches. My local McDonalds used to have that 1950s style and it was so fun, then they tore the whole building down and replaced it.

So as a person native who was raised on Hawaii it's part the Japanese influence, and all the other people who immigrated to Hawaii during when there was high demand for ... Sugar Cane Plantation jobs. Due to the colonization that happened there , not much of the native population was left to do it. So Japanese, Okinawan (some, I believe), Chinese, Filipino and Portuguese people were told to come . Where the making of spam musubi comes in is that Plantation workers were not paid very much though needed food. And there was not many foods they used to have. Spam was cheap and plentiful though, So Spam musubi was created to fill that need. Though this is just what i was told, and it seems the origins is disputed. It so is!! And surprisingly easy to make + hard to mess up (imo) even if you end up with just a rice spam and nori(Seaweed sheets) bowl it still tastes fine

i heavily dislike eating cabbage in any form, especially purple cabbage dragnshock

My gramma just started making her own, she got some special jars for it with a one-way valve so the pressure can't get too high but also unwanted bacteria can't get in. She's been experimenting and some have turned out better than others, but it's all been yummy!

i make it all the time! i usually do a simpler version that doesn't involve as much mixing and prep and i make my seasoning gochugaru paste in the microwave instead of a pot. i use a glass tupperware container that has an air tight seal and "burp" it every day or so. i learned a lot from maangchi's channel on yt
